Sigil Social Foundation, Women Wonder Writers, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Empire and Street Positive are joining together with California Baptist University Sociology & Forensic Psychology Programs to bring awareness to Human Trafficking at BREAK Teen Trafficking Event on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at California Baptist University in Riverside from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  An arts and educational event to enlighten and empower our youth and community to take a stand against human trafficking.

Nate Fowler, founder of the Sigil Social Foundation, will be speaking at BREAK Teen Trafficking. There will also be a chance to meet Nate Fowler at the booth, ask questions about Sigil’s hugely successful domestic violence and human trafficking survivor long-term programs, and find out how you can help the program.

Working together, we will make participants aware and provide them with the tools to cultivate a meaningul change and rise against sexual exploitation and human trafficking.  Every child is at risk. Traffickers target not only vulnerable at-risk children, but the trusting and naive as well.  Many of our youth in the Inland Empire are engaging in high risk behaviors such as drug use, truancy, gang association, and running away, which make them an easy target.

Through workshops, this event will give you the opportunity to connnect with youth, families, sponsors, donors, law enforcement, educators, advocates and parents. Learn the tools to educate our youth and community about the warning signs and risks, debunk myths and arm the community with the tools to take a stand. January is Human Trafficking prevention month, so what better time to tackle the most common form of modern-day slavery.

Together, let’s BREAK the cycle of victimization, abuse and trafficking.
